The Perfect Little White Shirt

After I flunked a test today, I decided I needed to feel better about life. So what did I do? Of course I went shopping. I went to my mother-ship (translation=Gap), but felt slightly unfulfilled and unsettled there. I was aiming to by a fantastic white collared shirt, but Gap gave me no good choices. Feeling slightly confused and upset, I felt my mall honing device lead me to Express. (That is not to say that I didn’t buy a thing at Gap [like fantastic brown pants and a beautiful blue sweater], but this entry is about a perfect little white shirt, not about my Gap purchases.)

I entered Express and immediately eyed a white collared shirt. My heart leapt as I picked it up and caressed its beauty. Some teeny-bopper let me into a dressing room, and as I slipped into the gorgeousness that was the shirt, I felt higher than I had all day. The sleeves were perfectly fitted, the length made my torso look longer, and the body was well fitted. It was perfect.

I promptly bought the shirt from Miss Teeny-bopper and left the store, my Express bag crinkling joyfully in my hands. Did I feel smarter at that moment? No. Did I feel really good about spending money? No. But did I feel super-fantastic about the shirt? You betcha.

What happened to saving your money for student teaching? I thought you had sworn off Gap. Oh, well. I guess a little shopping never killed anyone...although there was that girl in Alabama that dropped dead while running up and down the Walmart aisles....but that is probably suburbian folklore.

Express makes some of the most wonderful clothes around.

HA ha ha ha! Wow, Hay, we really need to work on that shopping compulsion of yours. Though I must hand it to you, you have been doing EXTREMELY well lately...avoiding too much dependency upon The Stores. Especially since you've been so stressed...way to contain yourself. You deserved those amazing brown slacks, awesome blue sweater, and perfect little white shirt. Hooray for you! Hooray for incredible clothes that aid in our reproductive strategies! ;)

Ditto on both Jo and Deb's accounts. :)

Speaking of which Hay, what time are we taking pics of you on Friday? What are you going to wear?

I broke down and went on a little shopping spree of my own today... I REALLY like spending money, at least I sure am good at it! Bah!

(Thanks again for the bagel! It was delicious!) :)
