Courtship

Today in Natural History of Vertebrates we talked about reproductive strategies. As this is the most exciting part of biology, I was psyched. My professor, Dr. Cox, said something today that explains my attitude toward males as of late. He said, "In reproduction, courtship requires more energy than almost anything else."

I have no energy to do anything these days, and so why expend energy on males when I don’t have any in the first place? The fact that courtship requires so much energy is why I cannot delve into my own reproductive strategies. Let me place what little energy I have on school and let reproduction sit on the back burner for awhile.

Man, I’m tired!

It is a lot of work. Hahahahahaha! I'm glad I'm not there anymore. If I was, I'd be in your boat this semester...too tired to do anything about anyone or anything (most especially that of the male gender). Now I just have to clean house, cook dinner, do laundry.....wait a minute!

Have you ever wondered why it is called "courtship?" It is not like you are a ship named court, or a court named ship....

"...I hold the pomp and wealth of Kings!"
"...The Monarch of the Seas..."
"...And now for the cream...And the two terms united..."
"Ship and court. Court and ship... Courtship! He writes to me about courtship?!"
"...Oh, let's read it again and again!"

What are your reproductive strategies, Hay? (That question is open to all of you, actually...) And how does one let reproduction "sit on the back burner?"

(LOVED the pun at the end, btw!)

I think my reproductive strategies are getting me into trouble...
