I Can Do It, Too! AND Thank HEAVEN for Weekends!

As I am sitting here listening to Josh Groban's "Remember When It Rained," I am thinking I can write a long post just like Jo. Deb seemed to like it, so I'll do my very best to try very hard to write a long post. Although, I should warn everybody: the only thing I have to talk about is school. That is what I do for 15 hours a day. What do I do for the other 8? Sleep. And that isn't very interesting.

Monday was an excellent day, as we started insects in zoo-bot, and the kids seemed to really like the change. We fought crayfish in the lab class, which I have to say was pretty awesome.

Tuesday was a not so excellent day. B2 and B3 both went fine, but my B4 class was a living hell. The kids were chatty, obnoxious, and immature. I wanted to slap a couple silly. The bell finally rang, and I went into Michelle Ormond's classroom for advice. She gave me some good stuff, and I left feeling marginally better. I went to a stake BBQ for 30 minutes, then raced home to watch my most favorite show of all time--House. It was an excellent episode about a kid who thought aliens were visiting him. It turned out to be a weird genetic problem. It was a fantastic episode.

Wednesday was another excellent day because we talked about insects again in zoo-bot, and I even did a praying mantis impression. We fought crayfish again in the lab class, but this time we drugged them with adrenaline and nicotine. It pretty much rocked. I love the lab class because the kids are so on top of things and so bright that Bastian and I have little work to do. They do mostly everything--mixing chemicals, doing the prep work, etc., so I just sit back and put in my two cents when needed.

Today was an interesting day. We did a cell identification lab, and it actually turned out extremely well. The kids respond amazingly well to labs--I hear things like "Science is fun," and "I never did any of this in my other science classes," and "I'm glad we don't do book work in here." Straight up. No book work, no siree. That's boring. Science rocks! I had a lovely talk with my B4 class that went something like this: "It's been observed that sophomores tend to act like 9th graders until Christmas, and then they finally act like sophomores. I don't have time to wait until Christmas. You students need to grow up and act like sophomores right now. You are behind the other classes because I constantly have to babysit in this class. And I am overqualified to be your babysitter. I didn't graduate from BYU at the top of my class to be your babysitter. I didn't compete in international competitions and win international awards to come and babysit. I came to be a teacher. If you need a babysitter, I can take you down to the office and we'll find a place were you can be babied. I hate being onery in this class--I love you and want you to do well, but you need to step up." They all looked at me as if they were about to cry. Let's just say they were much more well behaved today. After school, I didn't stay until my normal 5:30 because I had a science fair meeting at BYU at 4. It was exciting. Oh, I also dissected live crayfish today. It was pretty exciting.

And tomorrow is Friday. FINALLEMENT! Thank heaven! I am so looking forward to the weekend. Wait . . . I'll be at school then, too. At least I get to sleep in.

Now I need to go to bed, because I need to be a school tomorrow at 6 am to do all the stuff I didn't accomplish this evening. So, have a good night, or day, or whatever!

Loves, etc.

Hooray for long posts! I've been wondering what's been going on over there at that mysterious school of yours! Hooray for chewing out the students. Every high school student needs a good chewing out once in a while to remind them who is boss. ;) I bet I can guess what happened on House. They diagnosed the problem and then gave the patient some medicine. But Wait! It was the wrong disease and wrong medication! So they tried again! Wrong again! The patient is dying and must be saved QUICKLY! Dr. House steps in and insults everyone's intelligence and then comes up with the right solution just before it's TOO LATE! Saved again. (Was I close?) Just kidding. I like that show, but it can be pretty predictable sometimes.
Hooray for dissecting live crayfish and hooray for Friday! When are you having that house-warming party Haylee! I still haven't even seen the place. It must be getting mighty cold there without a house-warming. :)

This next Friday, Deb, the 22nd! I can't believe I've forgotten to tell everyone! My roommate is gone, so I'm having the party then. It should be rockin'! Can you come?!?

What time is the partae? Oh, I'll have niece and nephew...maybe we'll just pop on by to check things out. We'll see.

Also, awesome chewing out. But, they are high school students, so it might only last for a few days,on the other hand, when Mrs. Allsop-Day chewed us out we listened. I bet you'll be like that.

You go, Miss Teacher Girl! That was a good chewing out because you didn't attack the students too much. You just helped them see how and why they need to appreciate you. Very well done.

Exciting week.

House-warming, here we COME!!! :)
