Another week down. This term of school is flying by, and I couldn't be more pleased about that. This week definitely went better than last, and maybe I'm finding my groove again.
But I'll pause a little moment for a vent. My dear, lovely zoology/botany students have known since the beginning of the semester about the insect collection AND about how it was due TODAY. I've especially emphasized that this entire week AND the week before. They've had the due date on their term schedule for the entire term. I've told them every weekend to go an catch insects, and I've warned them that it was getting colder and that insects would be harder to find. So, imagine how I felt when I received this email today:
Hey I kind of have a very serious problem... The whole bug hunting in the freezing cold/wind isn't really working out for me, and I've been outside every night for the past week and all I can find is dang grasshoppers. I don't think I've procrastinated, in fact I work really hard in your class and try to do my best, I'm just really stressing out about not having my bug collection done by tomorrow because I know it for sure won't happen. And being absent the past two days hasn't helped me a whole lot either, I guess what I'm trying to ask is... Is it too late for me to do an alternate project, or something more "report" oreineted rather than catching bugs, I guess it's not my specialty, and if I am too late to ask that then I guess that will be fine. I just thought I'd check. If you could get back to me that would be great. Thank you :)
Um, "I don't think I've procrastinated"? HHHEEELLLLOOOO! I've been telling the classes for WEEKS about this. I had to respond that there was NOTHING I could do, and she had to turn in what she had. I don't really feel that bad about it either, especially when I've done so much on my end for weeks now.
Other than that, things are splendid. I'm excited for this fall weather (although not so much for the snow that might happen this weekend). I'm excited about things Allan and I are doing financially. I'm excited about fall break next week. I'm excited about Paige's baby. I'm excited about moving into one of my favorite times of year--the holiday season. I'm excited about life.
To end this blog, I need to take a poll. As next week is fall break for me, and I'm wondering if you all want to get together some night and come over and play Rock Band (maybe we'll even get Rock Band 2 to enlarge the song options). Let me know in the comments section what you think!
Have a very happy weekend!

Glad to hear that life is SO splendid! Very good news! :)
Stupid students. It's funny that at least that slacker tried to get out of the project! Sorry to have to deal with that, yo!
Get-togethers are always fun, enjoyable, and a good idea! What can I do to help?
I wonder if I could turn in a bug collection instead of a lighting design portfolio. Maybe I'll ask :)
I like how she tried to pull the "this just isn't my thing" crap. Um, teacher, research papers just really aren't my thing. Do you think there's an alternate project I could do, like go shopping at the mall...or like paint my friends toenails?
I'm gonna try that line.
