I am NOT a student!

I walked into the copy center today, and to my dismay, the fantastic copy lady wasn't there. But guess who was? Mrs. Sheen. So, I smiled, said hello, and began getting my papers ready to be copied.

"Can I help you?" Sheen inquired, looking at me suspiciously.

"Nope, just getting these ready for copying," I smiled.

She eyed me, and immediately I knew what she was thinking.

"Oh, no, I'm not a . . . I'm a new teacher!" I stated, taken aback that she would think I was a student.

"Oh, okay. What's your name?" The way she said it still made me think that she didn't believe me.

I stated my name, and a look of relief washed over her face. "Oh, yes! We've heard lots about you!" She smiled (finally).

She left and I went about my business.

I am NOT a student! I am a teacher! I suppose this will be the first of many times where people make this mistake. I really need to get my offical name badge so there will be no mistaking.

You do kind of look like a high school student, except more grown up and mature, but I could see how that would be an issue. There was a teacher of 4th grade at Edgemont last year that was the same height and build as a lot of the kids and she got the same thing all the time. Plus, its Sheen, she's quirky. :) Goodluck!!

Hmmm. People are funny. Perhaps you should get a big ol' honkin' ring (you know, BLING BLING) for your finger. I've noticed that it helps when people seem suspicious about your age...just wave that thing in their face and they quickly get over the fact that you are younger. So you're an accomplished 22 year old. Sorry that the rest of the world isn't so on top of their game! :)

Sheen's in my home ward. She kind of frightened me as a child, but the more I got to know her, the more I liked her. She's one of those kind of people. You go, Haylee.

HOW WAS THE SEMI-OFFICIAL TWO DAYS BEFORE STUDENTS? Were the sophomores so little and scared? Are you excited or more nervous for tomorrow? You'll be great! Since I'm currently unemployed, I should stop by one of these days! I'd love to sit in on one of your lectures!!! :)
