Today has brought happiness to my weary winter soul. I woke up to singing birds and a gentle breeze through my open bedroom window. I commenced cleaning, and I decided it was time to throw open all the windows in the house and let the spring sun and breeze in. Oh, how I love this time of year!

I planted some tulip bulbs in pots last fall, so I dragged the pots to the front porch this morning because I feel the bloom coming soon. I decided the porch needed some more color. I went to the Vineyard Garden Center and bought pansies, violas, and phlox to my heart's content.

A happy spring porch! As I was planting, I noticed some hornets and bees coming around. And I didn't mind because I knew they were excited for the flowers, just like me.

In other spring life, the baby is doing great. I went to the doctor yesterday. The heartbeat was 142 and my blood pressure and weight are right on track. Another happy spring development is the easing of the nausea and the return of my appetite. Happy day! The doctor also gave the "OK" for me to travel in the next couple of months, so San Jose is a go and so is another soon-to-be-decided trip in June. (Carl, my husband always neglects to ask you this question, so I'm doing it: if we came to DC in June for vacation, would you be able to come and play one day? Beach? Smithsonian?)

Happy spring, friends!

If you came to DC in June, I might even have a place to put you up for a few days. I could definitely come play. OH MAN! Going to the Darwin Exhibit at the Museum of Natural history with you! That would be awesome! Yes, I wrote this comment in real time.
