Hooray for March

The tulips are beginning to poke their green leaves above ground around my greenhouse at school. It seems like every day I look at them, they have grown a bit more. Every time I look, I smile. It means spring is just around the corner.

Allan's birthday is in March. This coming Friday, to be exact. I hope to make it a special enough day for him, considering a few things: 1) we'll both be working, 2) I'm pretty sure he knows what his present is, and 3) I have a test to take Saturday morning, so I need to turn in early Friday night. I've got a delicious cake in the works to celebrate on Saturday evening and hope the dinner I have planned for Friday will make him happy.

The test I'm taking on Saturday is to move up to a level 2 teaching certificate. It's the Praxis Principles of Learning and Teaching/Pedagogy test. Sounds so impressive, right? Especially with the word pedagogy thrown in. To impress you even more, I'll say I practice my pedagogy almost every day. =) This year is my last provisional year, and I need to pass the test to successfully make the move to a new teaching license. Everyone who has taken it has assured me that I'll do well, but I'm starting to get nervous/sick. I haven't taken a standardized test in a while, and I'm totally out of the groove. But hopefully my minimal preparations this week will be enough to keep me calm and collected.

Speaking of teaching, I only have 27 periods left in each class. Truly, it's even less than that because the last two weeks of school are a joke. It's crazy how time flies. And being in my third year is AWESOME because I already have ideas and plans and tests and assignments. I still have to prepare, but the preparation is minimal compared with years past. The grading still gets me, though, but it is a necessary evil. I'm having the students do a lot more grading in class which is super helpful.

That's all for now. In the meantime, I'm patiently watching the tulips. And that makes me happy.

Lee, you are going to do amazing! I was listening in (eaves dropping! woot!) on summer and joe who just took it and they said it was easy and they did way better than they thought! You are such an awesome, natural teacher you'll do great! No worries! All the same... good luck!!

Tell Allan Happy Birthday from me. I won't remember on Friday. And I'm sure that he'll LOVE whatever it is you do for his birthday. Boys are good like that. It's us girls that are silly.

And the test....yeah. I don't think you have anything to worry about.

Dude, seriously! That test is in the bag! You'll SO ace it! It's just your way. You're too smart not to! :)

I'm WAY behind on sending out b-day cards, but Allan is on my list. Now it's just a matter of getting my act together! HA! I'm sure he'll love it all because he LOVES YOU and EVERYTHING you do for him!

Let's hang sometime.
