I am sitting here on a gorgeous Sabbath day at my computer. I am writing various emails, looking up various lesson plan ideas, and trying to plan out my week.
Tomorrow is a professional development day, and while the students get the day off, I get to be in meetings all day long. Hooray! The biological science teachers are meeting together with some professors from BYU to talk about the evolution position statement the Board of Education put out. (You can read the position statement [it's really quite excellent] here: http://www.schools.utah.gov/curr/science/pdf/EvolutionPositionStatement.pdf). So, I'm thinking I'm going to take tests to grade while everyone is talking about it. I get free lunch, so I can't complain too much.
I went shopping yesterday. I gave in. I haven't been shopping in over 2 months, which I am extremely proud of. I decided I had been such a good girl that I deserved a shopping adventure. So I went into Banana Republic and bought a shirt (http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/product.do?cid=5042&pid=422115&scid=422115002), a beautiful red sweater (http://www.bananarepublic.com/browse/product.do?cid=5043&pid=433682&scid=433682032) (you were right, Al--I can pull off red), and some fantastic slacks with a hint of red in them. Then, of course, I had to go to Nordstroms and buy some red shoes.
And I think that's all for now. If anyone had some good ideas about how to teach cellular respiration, let me know!
Loves, etc.

The joys of UEA. Don't teachers ever get a break?
Ummm, no.
